TicketForce hosts a free social media webinar every other month. Be sure to mark your calendars for the next one on May 2nd, 2012!

YouTube was started in 2005 by three former PayPal employees and has grown into the third largest social media network. Today, YouTube is the second largest search engine behind Google and receives over eight years of uploaded videos everyday. YouTube makes it easy to share content by having the ability to embed your video into your website or blog.  Linking the video to your other social networks gives your viewers the opportunity to share your video amongst their networks.

In order to be successful on YouTube, you have to make sure to spend time doing three things before you ever upload a video:

1. Research your audience and relevant keywords.

Who do you think your primary viewers will be? If you’re already on social media networks,  you can start getting ideas of who your viewers will be from there. Once you know who your viewers are, do some research into your industry and find out what topics are trending and which keywords are the most competitive to apply that information to your YouTube plan.

2. The second step to be successful on YouTube is to make a plan. Plan out what you want to accomplish through YouTube, then make a list of video ideas that will help you achieve those goals. When you have your plan completed, go back to the research that you did and apply those trending topics or keywords to your YouTube plan.

3. Now that you have your research done and your plan in place, it is time to customize your channel. Customizing all of your social media networks to be consistent is important for branding purposes.  If your usernames are different between all networks, you’re more than likely not going to get all the traffic that you could be getting. Make sure  that there is not a disconnect between networks and that you are utilizing the same username, logo and color schemes on all networks to maximize your brand visibility.

Incorporate these three items into your YouTube channel videos to guarantee your channel is a success.
